While attending a painting-on-glass workshop in the summer of 2015, we also created small glass samples using other techniques. Four of the samples that I came home with (three flowers and a butterfly) were then used as starting points for Butterfly and Blues and A Flower a Day. These panels remind me of creating a quilt around a 'focus fabric', picking up on elements of the samples to guide me in the color selections of surrounding pieces. This format provides a nice way to showcase some of my smaller pieces of really interesting colored glass.
