TIMELINE

Stained glass

GETTING STARTED...

My first forays into stained glass occur around the time that I attend The University of The Arts in Philadelphia, PA. I graduate in 1991, with a degree in Painting - and a student loan.

COMING BACK...

After college, I spend almost a decade in the retail world, while at the same time becoming very interested in quilts - looking at them as well as making them. By 2000, I have relocated to Upstate New York, and have an opportunity to try my hand at building. I enjoy creating living spaces for people that are both useful and beautiful, and develop a specialty in tilework.

I leave building work after 2014, and return to the medium that felt so alive to me all those years ago: glass. I start with simpler pieces, work on my craftsmanship, adapt some of my own drawings into designs, and take a workshop in painting on glass.

DECIDING TO STAY...

By 2018, I begin my glass explorations with earnest, and am now working toward creating a body of work. Some of the threads connecting my work are: the beauty of the natural world, the influence of artists like Gustav Klimpt and Louis C. Tiffany,  quilt design, and a love of light and color.
